I love this stuff, but that wasn't always the case. I used to hate it, kinda wish i did again cause its not good for you at all. Anyway, this blog is about type, so I took a picture of my can sitting ever so nicely on the table. I did some research and couldn't come up with a font other than Cooper Black which is used for their I'm a pepper campaign. I also found this little tid bit of info: In the 1950’s the period after the “r” in Dr was dropped because of the way the “r” is done, they thought it would look like there was a colon instead of a period. The period has never been added back in.

Blanket effect

I really like this logo. This studio offers classes in quilting, and I think this logo is simple but really effective. A blanket tossed in the air type of feel. I'm not sure of the font but it looks common, and I love the colors.

I thought this was a really clever way to portray an I. You have the exclamation point and the actual eye at the bottom made by a turned parenthesis. It reminded me if Michael Bierut's work, a designer I'm studying in another class.

KEEPING MEMORIES PHOTOGRAPHY

Keeping memories photography is a small business that specializes in family portraits. They also shoot weddings, and take senior photos, but family is the area of focus. Although, you could say that the target audience is anyone looking to get their picture taken, I think it would be better to narrow it down to parents. They are looking to capture moments of their children they can look back on later. A parent may consider this comapny based on how well they work with children. The wordmark for this company should to be warm and inviting.

Atari Logo

Who doesn't love the Atari logo?

After some research, I'm still not 100% sure what this font is. I read articles stating this font was made for the logo, and is called SF Atarian Systems. I also read that the font was a remake of Bauhaus or Hammer Fat.

ITC Franklin Gothic

Morris Fuller Benton created the san serif type, Franklin Gothic, for ATF (American Typeface) in 1902. Its unique characteristics included the curvy tail on the Q and the double story g with an ear. Upon its original release, it was only available in one weight. By 1979, ITC (International Typeface Corporation) acquired rights from ATF to expand the font. Victor Caruso added four more weights, including italics, and also increased the x-height to make the font more readable. Franklin Gothic became popular by the 80s and was used in many graphic works including newspapers to billboards. In 2008, font bureau and ITC teamed up to make the modern version that exists today. ITC Franklin consist of six different weights, four widths, italics, and a lowercase form the same height as its capital counterparts.
